Who Are Elephant Timber Supplies?
Elephant Timber is a family run business that supplies unique pieces of live-edge timber like no other. We believe in showcasing the natural edges and variations in the grain patterns of live-edge wood; that is why we handpick each piece for its unique character and beauty.
Located in the heart of East Sussex, we concentrate on only supplying timber that has been grown locally and we do not import any timber from overseas. Our timber comes from trees that have been felled due to either ill health, storm damage or because they have outgrown their intended space.
Carl Foreman has been running a tree surgery company since 2002 and dreamt of finding a good use for the timber felled, instead of it just ending up as logs to burn. For a solution to this waste of beautiful and unique wood, he set up Elephant Timber in 2016.
After investing in a portable Wood-Mizer sawmill and the equipment required to be able to move heavy trunks, Elephant Timber was born. We are proud to provide our customers with some absolutely beautiful and unique pieces of characterful timber. Carl’s hope is that these pieces taken from once majestic tree trunks get a second chance to live on again by being crafted into something people love.
Our sustainable wooden slabs are perfect for creating one-of-a-kind tables, desks and worktops, unique pieces of furniture, distinctive bookshelves and bespoke musical instruments. Our customers include DIY enthusiasts, kitchen designers, cabinet makers, kitchen manufacturers, interior designers and shopfitters. Our planks are available in a range of thicknesses and widths and from a variety of tree species, such as ash, elm and sycamore.
